360° photos and spherical video: an underused Google Maps growth lever.
Why 360° photography and spherical video on Google Maps can outperform standard photos 20-30x in views, for a one-off cost.
Clients in saturated local markets are all chasing the same thing: a way to stand out on Google Maps that doesn’t require a permanent ad budget.
The idea
Google’s Maps algorithm actively favors content that enriches the map itself: it’s less work Google has to do to make the listing useful. So instead of another paid push, we proposed something simpler: a short shoot of 360° photos and spherical video inside the client’s own venue.
The result
- Listings with 360° content see 20-30x more views than standard photos taken on the same day.
- The shoot is a one-off cost of a few hundred złoty depending on the number of shots, and unlike a running Google Maps ad, that spend keeps paying off afterwards: cost-per-view falls over time instead of resetting every month.
The extra benefit
The client doesn’t need to track algorithm changes or platform trends to get the upside; we monitor what Maps rewards and bring the suggestion to them.
Takeaway
A 360° shoot is one of the few local marketing moves that’s genuinely pay-once: the upfront cost is small, there’s no recurring media spend, and the visibility gain compounds instead of decaying.
